2026 ESC Awards of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship

 The Engagement Scholarship Consortium supports and encourages excellence in community-engaged scholarship through its annual Awards Program. The program recognizes higher education institutions and their exemplary contributions to scholarship and the practice of engaged scholarship.

 

The 2026 ESC Awards of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship will recognize exemplary institutional programs in the following categories: Student, Faculty,Outreach and Engagement Professional, Community Partner, Distinguished Dissertation, Institutional Leadership, and Distinguished Engaged Scholar.

Professional Development

2026 Emerging Engagement Scholarship Workshop

 The Emerging Engagement Scholars Workshop (EESW) is an intensive professional development program that provides advanced doctoral students and early career faculty with background literature, dialogue, mentoring, and workshops designed to increase their knowledge and enhance their practice of community-engaged scholarship. The EESW is competitive with only 15-20 applicants selected each year.

 

Highlights:

Learn the basic foundations of community-engaged scholarship, research, and practice

You will have a designated faculty mentor, and participate in small-group work

Panel discussions with faculty and community organizations

Get connected with a national network of engaged scholars!

 

This year's EESW will take place on Monday, October 5 and Tuesday, October 6, 2026, immediately before the Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference in Knoxville, Tennessee. Workshop participants can take full advantage of the larger conference program.

Call for Reviewers

The Engagement Scholarship Consortium is seeking reviewers for its Awards Program nominations and Conference proposals, and later this year its Grants program applications.

 

To express your interest in serving as a reviewer for these programs, please click the button below to indicate which you would be interested in reviewing. Committee chairs will identify and contact reviewers for each program to confirm their interest. If you are no longer available at the time of review or are solicited to be on multiple review committees, you may decline at that time.

 

We hope you will engage in the critical work that the ESC is doing to recognize, support, and disseminate the engaged scholarship of faculty, staff, and students.
