Public health scholar and physician Dr. Prajakta Adsul partners with communities across New Mexico to strengthen cancer prevention, expand access to screening, and advance evidence-based approaches that support real-world health outcomes.

Rooted in her early training in rural India, Adsul’s work is shaped by experiences caring for entire villages and seeing firsthand how social conditions determine health long before clinical care begins. She brings this global perspective to New Mexico, connecting lessons learned abroad with the needs of local communities through bi-directional learning and collaboration.

Her research focuses on implementation science — understanding how evidence can be adapted, translated, and sustained in everyday settings, especially for populations who face barriers to care. She works closely with community organizations, clinics, and public health partners to shape prevention strategies that reflect lived experience, cultural context, and local priorities.

Through her teaching and mentorship, Adsul emphasizes the importance of listening, relationship-building, and co-production. She encourages future public health leaders to center community voice, reduce inequities, and design solutions that empower people to act on their own health. Her work highlights a simple but powerful idea: meaningful change happens when science supports what communities already know they need.
