We are excited to invite you to participate in the University of New Mexico's upcoming Symposium on Community Engagement, scheduled for an all-day event on November 15, 2024. The symposium will focus on having conversations about Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) and how to build better community partnerships. This symposium will serve as a convergence point, drawing together a diverse array of civic leaders and academics in higher education with the shared mission of advancing community engagement. The primary objective will be to foster a discourse on expanding our reach of community engagement and exploring new partnerships in the state. Participants will engage in panel discussions that will be focused on developing strategic initiatives and sharing insights, experiences, and best practices to empower different stakeholders with the tools and knowledge needed to address critical challenges facing society.
The symposium will bring together scholars, educators, administrators, and community leaders from across the region to explore best practices, share insights, and foster collaboration in the realm of community engagement. We are particularly honored to have Cammie Jones-Friedrichs, Director of the Carnegie Elective for Community Engagement, as our keynote speaker. Cammie Jones is renowned for her contributions to advancing community-university partnerships and will provide invaluable perspectives to our discussions. We are also honored to have academic leaders in community engagement from the University of Arizona, University of Colorado, Texas Tech University and University of Texas at El Paso participating in our panel discussions.
